Interview Of Jacoblevi Parx

Jacoblevi Parx (JP) performed the 8th of October at Le Cercle des Voyageurs, and ladies and gentlemen, it was a great moment ! The concert was also broadcasted on Jetsetliferadio, our partner, and it was a journey through a smooth voice, with amazing guitar accompaniment. To explain better, i simply copy/paste (and translate) a comment from an auditor, posted on jetsetlife radio page :
"Very good concert, given by Jacoblevi, a very veautiful voice. His guitar made us travel."

So after the concert, we were lucky enough to have some time with the performer for a nice interview.

LCV : Where do you come from?
JP : I'm located in the middle of the uk in the country of Yorkshire.
LCV : Is it where you were born?
JP : Yes that's correct.
LCV : How did you start music (voice and guitar) in rl?
JP : Well i've always loved singing, and i've tinkered wih musical instruments throughout my life,  you know keyboards recorders etc. But only about 8yrs ago i did start taking things serious and picked up a guitar and started to seriously learn all because of a musician called Elliott Smith.
LCV : Do you have other musicians who inspired you? :) For the guitar especially?
JP : Conor Oberst from Brighteyes, Elliott Smith, John Lennon, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, The Shins, Velvet Underground (amazing), and soo much more... All music inspire me so it's hard to single out any one or group of artists.
LCV : Yes i imagine lol. So how did you finally start to sing in sl?
JP : Well it all started with a friend of mine, she gave me the courage to actually stand up and do an open mic event and i all started progressing from there.
LCV : She did good to encourage you. What does music represent for you?
JP : Everything, it interprets all aspects of life. Anything you feel,  say or do can be found in music, you find that if you ever feel a certain way then you learn to a certain type of music. It's in everyone and we all have our own internal beats and rythms and i find it amazing to see what people especially artists create with this rythm and beat. We're unique in everyway and music flows from us all.
LCV : Yes :) Did you have some rl musical experiences?
JP : Only a little. My first experience was in a play when i was 6 yrs old and that's when i first sang in front of an audience, but since with my guitar only a few open mic events in my local town.
LCV : :) How was it? you remember it?
JP : Yeah it was exciting. I went with some other musician friends, i was extremely nervous and i remember on one of my songs i got the begining wrong and i stopped, said sorry and for some reason played the whole song really fast to get it over with. I bet people where like what the heck is this guy doing lol!
LCV : LOOOL! i bet it was cute :D
JP : Certainly funny.
LCV : Actually would do like to have some musical experiences like concerts maybe in bars and else?
JP : In rl maye, yes it would be nice but face to face i get more nervous, but the buzz you get from it is amazing, seeing people's facial expressions and response to words you say and everything, it's a good feeling. But i get shy.
LCV : :) That brings me to another question: how does it feel singing in sl, when you know people are listening, but you're not face to face?
JP : There's a slight detatchment from people, especially with the delay of streaming, you finish a song and 10-20 seconds later you get and applause so it throughs you a little, but it's nice hearing the comments people are saying about you during a show, that builds you up and inspires you to do better and work harder.
LCV : It doesn't give you the desire to perform in front of people to get their reactions, their applauses directly?
JP : I dont think directly i'm looking for applause but looking to share my work and see what response it gets, i like honesty from people and i'm always striving to be better, and when i get honesty from someone, i appreciate it, it helps me on my musical journey. Applause is nice, it feels good and in rl too it's great but its not something i crave in either worlds.
LCV : I understand :) So, any plans for your artistic life in sl?
JP : Not any ambitious ones at the moment. I just want to share what i have with people who will enjoy it,i wont be everyone's flavour, but i once heard in an interview that if you like your song then someone else will, so i want to share the songs i like with people and have the ones who like it be around to listen
LCV : Yes i agree. We are at the end of our interview, some more words you would like to tell us?
JP : Just 'Say yes', one of my favourite Elliott Smith songs, give it a listen and fall in love.
LCV : :)) I promise i will. Thank you very much for accepting this interview and for answering , it was very nice :) And thank you again for your great performance :))
JP : Yaaaaayy! You are most welcome it was a pleasure
LCV : For me too :)

We can assure you something : we will invite him again in a few !
